Bloompop is an online floral marketplace that delivers artisan flower arrangements created by local florists at fixed price points. The company allows florists to maintain their own shops and feature their own designs on the Bloompop website. Bloompop is also integrated with Facebook and Pinterest, and users can save and "favorite" Bloompop arrangements for all of their social contacts to see. Florists must apply to work with Bloompop. Currently there are 14 Bloompop florists serving the broader D.C. metro area.
Headquartered at the Crystal Tech Fund in Arlington, Virginia, Bloompop was founded in January of 2013 by Shavanna Miller. The company was conceived as an alternative to large flower delivery companies. Bloompop lets users browse local florist offerings and order flowers the same way they would with bigger online flower companies. This way local florists don't have blow their marketing budget to compete with bigger brands. In 2014 Bloompop was one of D.C.'s 50 on Fire finalists after expanding to several new cities including Chicago, New York City, Denver, Atlanta and more. The company also launched Bloompop Wedding, a service that helps brides-to-be find custom budget-friendly blooms. As of September, 2014, the company had floral service partners in 20 different states.
