LivingSocial is an online marketplace where clients can buy and share things to do in their city. Its products and programs include local escapes, shop, events, coupons and at home. The company deals with restaurants, activities, sports and fitness, health and beauty, services, home goods, fashion, electronics, kids and pets, free coupons and families. [1]  Users are notified when an offer is live through push notification and can buy the deal directly on their phone. The coupon is sent to their email.  The company has more than 70 million members in 28 countries.

Headquartered in Washington D.C., LivingSocial was founded as 'Hungry Machine' in 2007 by four Revolution Health Group employees: Tim O'Shaughnessy, Aaron Batalion, Eddie Frederick, and Val Aleksenko. The company's first major application was their Visual Bookshelf application on Facebook which allowed users to catalog and share their favorite books with friends.  The company later released PickYourFive and other Polls applications, making LivingSocial the number one application developer on Facebook as measured by page views. [???] After acquiring in 2009, LivingSocial launched 'Daily Deals,' a website that is its highest grossing venture to date.  Daily Deals offers users one daily deal for large discounts at local restaurants, bars, salons, spas, theaters, comedy clubs and sporting events.  Deals enables local merchants to engage consumers via coupons and daily savings offers.   Once a consumer downloads the app, he or she can sign in if they’re a pre-existing member. [2] Since 2010, Living Social has acquired Urban Escapes, which led to the launch of LivingSocial Escapes and LivingSocial Adventures, Jump On, a majority stake in LetsBonus, InfoEther, GoNabit, DealKeren, ONOSYS, TicketMonster which it later sold to Groupon for $260 million, and ONOSYS.
